Here is what you can typically expect from the moment you visit our showroom to the day you enjoy your first meal in your newly transformed space. 

Phase 1: Selection and Design 

Your journey begins with inspiration. During this stage, you’ll visit one of our showrooms to explore the greatest selection of materials available. Because we house a vast collection of natural stone, we recommend taking the time to truly “walk the yard.” Seeing the full scale of a slab allows you to appreciate the unique character, veining, and movement that samples simply cannot capture. 

Once you’ve hand-selected your specific slab of granite, marble, or quartz, our design team helps finalize the details, such as edge profiles and sink options. By making your selection early in the process, you establish a clear visual foundation that helps keep your entire project moving forward with confidence. 

Phase 2: The Digital Template 

The transition from vision to reality begins with a digital template. Once your cabinetry is secure, a Colonial technician uses laser technology to create an exact pattern of your space. This detailed survey accounts for the unique character of your walls and corners, ensuring your custom-cut stone is a perfect match for your home’s specific architecture. This level of accuracy is the secret behind the highest quality installation that Colonial is known for. 

Phase 3: Fabrication and Craftsmanship 

This is where your vision begins to take physical shape behind the scenes. Your hand-selected slab is moved into our fabrication facility, where advanced technology is used to cut the stone to the exact specifications of your digital template. 

While technology provides the precision, our craftsmen provide the finish, polishing the edges and inspecting every inch of the stone to ensure it meets our standards of excellence. This phase is about transforming a raw piece of nature into a functional centerpiece for your home. 

Phase 4: Installation Day 

The ‘Big Day’ is often the most exciting part of the process, as our professional installation team arrives with your custom-cut stone. In most cases, the installation is completed within a single morning or afternoon. We carefully set each slab, secure the physical seams, and mount your sink. We take pride in working respectfully within your home, ensuring that your space is left clean and ready for you to enjoy.  

Phase 5: The Final Steps 

While the stone is in place, there are a few final steps to consider. We generally recommend a short waiting period before having a plumber reconnect your faucet and garbage disposal to ensure all adhesives have fully set. If your project includes a new tile backsplash, this is typically scheduled to begin shortly after the countertops are securely in place to ensure a perfect fit against the new surface.
