Installing new countertops is a wonderful step to take when looking to make smart investments in your home. At Colonial Marble & Granite, we believe it’s important our customers understand what to expect during the countertop installation process and are happy to walk you through it step-by-step.
Before our team arrives at your home, there are several steps you can take to prepare:
Old countertops need to be removed entirely before our team arrives at your home. If it is within our scope of work, we will be able to carefully remove them for you. The old countertops will be removed from the cabinets and hauled away. To ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible, our experienced countertop installation team takes the necessary precautions to avoid any damage to surrounding areas.
Once the old surfaces are removed, the new countertops are laid on the cabinetry. It’s imperative that the cabinets are as level as possible before the stone is put in place. Epoxy is then used at the seams of your stone to cement the pieces together. Once the seams dry, the excess epoxy and dust will be removed, leaving only smooth seams.
Depending on your project, the installers may need to cut out the holes for the sink, faucet, or cooktop on-site. The countertop installation team will finish the cuts inside once the stone is set on the counters. If you have ordered a backsplash or a sink, the team will then proceed with installing those finishing touches as well.
Once the team has done a final examination and ensured the stone is secured in place, they will clean up the job site, provide you with instructions on how to care for your new countertops, finish any paperwork, and leave you to enjoy your new countertops!

Rest assured that our countertop installers offer the same expertise and meticulous attention to detail regardless of project size! Our team will walk you through the process, providing you with upfront quotes before starting and informing you of up-to-date timelines throughout the project.
